Ecommerce Issues
E-commerce is one of the most efficient methods of generating sales. It makes buying and selling easier by making products available at your fingertips anytime that you want. E-commerce has numerous benefits ranging from the fact that it requires considerably less investment and set-up costs for the entrepreneur to 24-hour access and customization for the consumers.

E-commerce websites problems, however, are often faced. Some of the most common e-commerce issues that customers face are inefficient menus and search problems, amongst others. E-commerce website issues cause customers to turn to other alternate websites for their purchases. This can reduce sales and boost leads for competitors instead.

Some of the major E-commerce problems on websites are:

1. Poorly Designed Menu
Sometimes Ecommerce websites make very basic homepages. The menus aren’t divided well enough among sub categories. This makes it tough for the customer to navigate his/her way through the website to find what they require. A whopping 41.2% of e-commerce website users have complained about this factor being a hindrance in their shopping experience.

2. Basic Search
A lot of ecommerce websites inefficiently structure their search bar. For a seamless experience, the customer requires tabs and options to filter his/her search. Nearly 30% users have a problem without this since it helps to narrow down the results and find exactly what they require.

3. Over Branding
Some ecommerce websites tend to push certain brands that sponsor their products more. This makes it difficult for the customer to find exactly what they are looking for. Over 26% of users face an issue with the products on an ecommerce website being buried behind too much branding.

4. Upfront Prices
Some websites don’t display the prices clearly with the product. The customer may have to snoop around and search a little to find the exact price of the products after shipping and taxes and discounts. According to a study, 33.1% of the users are deterred by this factor.

5. Create an Account
Over 25% users claim that their biggest challenge with an e-commerce website is that they have to create an account to checkout the products. Creation of an account may require unnecessary details that the customer may not wish to disclose, or it may slow down their purchase. E-commerce websites must include the feature to checkout without creating an account.

6. Shipping Costs
Extremely high shipping costs tend to deter a customer since he/she may not wish to pay an exorbitant amount for shipping a product that may not even cost that much. The saving that the customer was making by shopping from the website may be much lower than the shipping cost he/she has to pay. Approximately 23% of users find shipping costs a significant problem in their experience.

A commendable 68.9% users claim that the above pet peeves cause them to shop at other websites since it gives them fewer challenges. That’s a huge amount of customers that are deciding where they purchase from depending on their user experience. E-commerce entrepreneurs must ensure that they do not make these mistakes with their website. You must keep in mind the customer’s experience on your website when developing it and do your best to differentiate it. A seamless experience boosts your sales and customer satisfaction!
